The single prong retractor is designed to be placed around the inferior-posterior edge of the acetabulum for wide exposure during total hip replacement. Modular weights can be used to help hold the retractor in place.
The double prong retractor is designed to retract the femur anteriorly during total hip arthroplasty. It is hooked over the anterior pelvic brim. Modular weights can be used to help hold the retractor in place and to assist in exposure.

Busenkell Posterior Hip Retractor
Greatly enhances exposure by retracting the postero-inferior soft tissues
Designed by G. Busenkell, MD
Used to impact into the bone posteriorly and greatly enhances exposure by retracting the postero-inferior soft tissues. The retractor straddles the ischial ramus. After dislocation of the hip and debridement of the capsule, retractors are placed anteriorly and superiorly. Using a Cobb-type elevator, the posterior capsule and short external rotators are reflected posteriorly. The Busenkell Posterior Hip Retractor is then slipped along the posterior border of the ischium with the flange retracting the postero-inferior soft tissue mass. The point of the retractor is then impacted into the ischium with a mallet.

Lombardi Femoral/Gluteus Medius Minimus Retractor
Designed for acetabular exposure, and to retract the gluteus medius minimus during femoral reaming
Designed by Adolph V. Lombardi, Jr., MD
For acetabular exposure, the retractor can be placed easily at the level of the ischium and driven into the ischium to retract the femur posteriorly when using an anterolateral approach to the hip. Also using an anterolateral approach or a modified Harding hip approach, the retractor can be placed in the tip of the greater trochanter and can effectively retract the abductor mechanism, namely the gluteus medius minimus so that reaming of the femur can be performed.
Product No: 4235
Overall Length: 11.75"
Blade Width: 20mm
